on Aug 12, Friday at 1:00PM in St. Joseph’s Church, GP followed by interment at Rio Grande
Catholic Cemetery. Please keep the family in your prayers.
Girouxville Pilgrimage Aug 14 – 15th:
The Archdiocese’s annual pilgrimage in Girouxville will be held next weekend, from Sunday,
Aug. 14 to Monday, Aug. 15, for the Feast of the Assumption. All events of the pilgrimage will
take place at Girouxville’s Our Lady of Lourdes grotto and neighbouring church.
The pilgrimage begins Sunday afternoon, with a rosary at 2pm. Our evening vigil Mass at the
grotto begins at 8:30 pm that night, and will be followed by a candlelight procession. There are
many other events scheduled – including benediction, a healing service, a free supper and lunch,
a movie, a sit-down Q&A with the archbishop, and much more. You can see our full schedule
at the archdiocese’s website – archgm.ca.

  1. If you would be willing to bring a salad or veggie tray of cheese tray for Sunday’s beef
on a bun supper or Monday’s soup and sandwich lunch, please contact Nicole
    Blanchette at 780-323-4598
  2. If you would like to lend a potted flower arrangement to beautify the grounds and grotto,
please contact Evelyn Henley at 780-323-4222
  3. PRAYER INTENTIONS: paper to write prayer intentions will be available at the
grotto during the pilgrimage. We honor these intentions as personal and they will not be
read by any one privately or publicly. They will be burnt at the offertory at the Mass on
Monday morning. If you wish to prepare intentions before hand, or are unable to attend
and wish to send your intentions with a friend or your pastor is attending, you might give

to them to bring to the pilgrimage. Please, do not include monetary donations in
intention envelopes.

  1. Their will also be ‘blue’ envelopes at the grotto for anyone wanting to donate for the
needs of the shrine and pilgrimage. Parishes received some of these envelopes last year
and if they still have some in their possession, we ask that you make them available to
your people if they wish to donate to the shrine at your weekend Mass. Envelopes
collected can be forwarded to the Chancery office.
  2. MINISTRIES: We do need lectors both for French and English readings, prayers of the
faithful, servers at Mass celebrations and for processions. If you wish to submit your
name via email to Monsignor Charles at vicargeneral.agm@outlook.com or calling 780-
532-9766 during office hours. If you want to submit your name to carry up to the altar
offertory gifts, see Monsignor Charles on the pilgrimage sight.
Northern Light re-subscription campaign: We encourage you to purchase a subscription to
Northern Light either online or by using one of the subscription cards here at the church. And if
you are already a subscriber to this magazine, we encourage you to re-subscribe for a second
